SOUTH HAVEN, MICH. - The summer is a great time to make lasting memories with your family -- and there are so many different ways to do that in West Michigan.
If you are looking for a little adventure just an hour drive from Grand Rapids, the Pirate Chaser Sail aboard the Friends Good Will in South Haven might fit the bill.
The Friends Good Will is a replica of the merchant ship built back in 1810. During the Pirate Chaser Sail the crew will include participants in the sailing of the vessel assigning tasks such as hoisting the sails and even steering the sloop.
Their mission is to return the mayor's treasure which was stolen back at the dock. During the 90 minute sail, the crew fires the cannon at the pirate ship, launches a small boat with a crew aboard to fight for the return of the treasure, then distributes that treasure among the young sailors-in-training.
The Friends Good Will is part of the Michigan Maritime Museum. The Pirate Chaser Sails take place Wednesday through Saturday all summer long. Tickets are $37.
