HAMLIN TOWNSHIP, MICH. - The Coast Guard helped a boater off his vessel when it became grounded near Big Sable Point on Lake Michigan.
The operator of the 76-foot boat was en route to Traverse City from Pentwater on Saturday, April 15, when he noticed the boat was taking on water, according to a news release.
He then made the decision to ground it in about 3 feet of water.
A Coast Guard crew on patrol was able to respond within 20 minutes, the release states. The man was pulled from the boat as it began to tilt about 15 degrees.
No one was hurt nor was any fuel leaked into the lake.
