College president on leave after driving arrest

SCOTTVILLE, Mich. (WZZM)—The president of a lakeshore community college is being placed on paid administrative leave after being arrested for allegedly driving under the influence.

The West Shore Community College Board of Trustees held a special session Monday night to discuss the conduct of President Charles Dillon. He was arrested in Manistee last week.

The Board of Trustees voted to place Dillon on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation. Dillon is also required to successfully complete a residential alcohol treatment program and return his college-issued vehicle.

On Aug. 7 following Dillon's arrest, Board Chairman James Jensen released the following statement:

"The Board takes this matter very seriously and will take all steps necessary to enforce every aspect of the employment contract between Dr. Dillon and the college. The Board will also review board policies in detail as they pertain to this matter."
