Good Samaritan rescues five people from burning boat

LUDINGTON, MICH. - Five people were rescued by a good Samaritan Tuesday, July 18. They were on Lake Michigan just south of Big Sable Lighthouse around 11 a.m. when their boat caught on fire.

The U.S. Coast Guard sent a search and rescue crew from Ludington. The good Samaritan arrived at the burning boat before the Coast Guard and was able to rescue all five people aboard.

The Coast Guard had one of the victims was examined for possible smoke inhalation.

A Ludington Fire boat helped put the fire out, but the 31-foot Tiara Cabin Cruiser eventually sank in 75-feett of water.
