Man, 67, found drowned on Lake Michigan beach

Norton Shores Police are working to determine why a Spring Lake man was found dead along Lake Michigan this morning.

NORTON SHORES, MICH. - Norton Shores police say the body of a 67-year-old West Michigan man has been located on a beach near Lake Harbor Park.

Police were called to the area around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, after a beach goer reported finding a beach towel and clothing in a pile, but nobody nearby.

The man's body was discovered shortly after 11 a.m., miles away at Kruse Park. Police have identified him as 67-year-old Timothy Twa of Spring Lake. It is assumed at this time that he drowned.

Twa's car has been parked in the Lake Harbor parking lot since Monday.

An investigation into what happened is underway by the Norton Shores Police Department.
