Park Twp. prohibits parking near public beach

PARK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- Parking is now prohibited near a lakeshore water access that leads to a lovely public Lake Michigan beach.

20 no parking signs went up Wednesday following action over the winter by Park Township trustees. They said they were responding to "reports of late night activity, alcohol, fires, unleashed dogs, and related traffic congestion caused by beach goers.

The road end area is where New Holland meets Lakeshore Drive. The property in question is at the dividing line of Park and Port Sheldon Townships. No no parking signs have yet gone up in Port Sheldon.

Sue Feddick, who has lived nearby for 30 years, says she's not been aware of any problems. "It's just not fair for anybody coming here as long as I have," she told WZZM 13. "A waste of money, a waste of time. We've never had any issues before."
