Police investigate possible drowning in South Haven

SOUTH HAVEN, MICH. - Police in South Haven are investigating a possible drowning -- believing that someone fell off the South Pier and into Lake Michigan, but never resurfaced.

Police say people standing near the shoreline saw the person half way down the pier fall into the water just before 11 p.m.

For hours emergency responders searched the water surface with spot lights, a thermal imager and a portable light tower -- but were unable to find anyone.

Crews say they will continue their search Saturday morning during the daylight hours.

If you saw anything, you're urged to call the South Haven Police Department at 269-637-5151.
