Suspected drunk driver leads police on chase through Spring Lake area

SPRING LAKE, MICH. - A man is facing charges for leading Ottawa County deputies on a chase through Spring Lake after deputies tried pulling him over on suspicion of drunk driving.

A concerned citizen called the sheriff's office Tuesday, July 11, to report a possible drunk driver at the Admiral Gas Station on Lloyds Bayou Drive. The driver was located on E. Savidge Street and Lake Avenue where deputies tried to stop him.

He took off east down Leonard Street. Deputies placed a tire deflation strip on Leonard at 112th Avenue. The driver hit the strip and kept driving with flat tires on Leonard. He eventually stopped at a home near 108th Avenue.

The man was arrested in the yard.

He is now facing charges for fleeing and eluding police, and driving while intoxicated.
