Lowell senior dies in crash with oncoming SUV

LOWELL, Mich. (WZZM) - Lowell High School senior Alexander Dlouhy died Saturday morning when he lost control of his car and swerved into on-coming traffic colliding with an SUV.

The accident happened at 7:32 a.m. on Lincoln Lake south of 3 Mile Rd. NE.

A witness said Mr. Dlouhy crossed the center line and entered on-coming traffic. Mr. Dlouhy then tried to steer the car back, but lost control.

A 2003 Ford Explorer driven by John Lewis stuck the Volkswagen Jetta in the driver's side door trying to serve out of the path of the Volkswagen. Mr. Dlouhy died at the scene. Dlouhy was not wearing a seat belt. It is not known if alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Mr. Lewis was transported by ambulance to Greenville Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
