COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (WZZM) -- It might be hard to believe, but before you know it, The Whitecaps will be playing ball at Fifth Third Ballpark. The park suffered heavy damage from a January fire, but it's springing back to life thanks to some Made in Michigan products.
Inside Fifth Third, there are empty sections of seats and reminders of why they needed replacement. Monday, a hi-lo lifted pallets piled with boxes, filled with seats made by Irwin Seating.
Irwin Seating has been making seats in Grand Rapids since 1907. They make seats for schools, churches and theatres. They also make their own plywood, and do their own upholstery. Their seats are in ball parks and stadiums all over the world.
The Whitecaps first game since the fire is scheduled for April 8 at Fifth Third Ballpark.
