Man injured when shot multiple times in Battle Creek

BATTLE CREEK, MICH. - Police in Battle Creek are searching for the person responsible for a shooting Friday night around 10:00 pm.  They say a 34 year old man from Battle Creek was with two other people when he was shot multiple times in the lower body.   

The group was on W. Rittenhouse Avenue near Capitol Avenue SW when they were approached by another person.   That person fired multiple times at them, hitting the victim and parked cars, before fleeing on foot. 

Officers searched for the suspect with a K-9 unit and on foot, but could not find anything.  

Police say the suspect is a male, who is believed to be on foot.  They ask anyone with information to call the Battle Creek Police Department or Silent Observer at 269-964-3888
