ArtPrize entry removed from Calder sculpture

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Artist David Dodde is set to take his ArtPrize entry down at 8 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Dodde decorated the Calder sculpture in downtown Grand Rapids with stick-on flowers and leaves. City officials originally approved the project, but when representatives of the Calder Foundation complained about the artwork, Dodde was asked by the city to remove it.

Dodde was originally expected to remove the art on Monday but was granted an extension so his son could see the piece during an ArtPrize field trip for his class.
