ArtPrize venue that housed anti-gun artwork vandalized

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- An ArtPrize venue with a controversial piece of artwork inside is believed to be the cause of an act of vandalism outside the building.

This past weekend, someone wrote Greek letters on the side of Fountain Street Church. The letters are believed to be a reference to the Second Amendment and Right to Bear Arms.

Minister Fred Wooden says he believes it's in response to a pencil drawing inside of an assault rifle. The artist invited people to erase the drawing with erasers that represented victims of gun violence.

"I'm assuming the person who put this here, rather cowardly in my opinion, because they didn't leave a name, was expressing their difference of opinion," said Wooden.

The church is hoping that someone comes forward with information about who committed the vandalism.
