GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Extra security is on hand at Gerald R. Ford International Airport following a stabbing incident investigated as a potential act of terrorism in Flint.
The notice, sent by airport officials hours after the situation Wednesday, June, 21, says Ford Airport visitors might see additional officers in terminals passenger areas.
The airport is "safe and secure" otherwise, and there are no alert changes, the statement reads.
Police were called to Flint's Bishop International Airport as an officer was stabbed in the neck. The FBI says it's too early to call the stabbing -- which appears to be an isolated incident -- as an act of terrorism, but officials are looking into the possibility.
Anyone who sees anything suspicious at Ford Airport is asked to contact police at 616-233-6055.
