Goodwill closes downtown Grand Rapids store

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids is closing its downtown location after nearly half a century.

The store is located at Division Avenue and Cherry Street, across from Dégagé Ministries. Thursday it was cleared of inventory and supplies.

Goodwill says the decision to close the store was due to weak sales and a lack of donations.

All of the store's employees will be re-assigned to other stores. There are 19 other Goodwills throughout West Michigan.
