Grand Rapids police mourn the passing of Capt. Pam Carrier

GRPD remember Capt. Pam Carrier

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Grand Rapids police are remembering the first woman in the history of the department to become the ranks of Lieutenant and Captain.

Capt. Pam Carrier passed away this week. She began working with the department in 1980 and retired in 2011.

GRPD posted on its Facebook page that she was a leader, role model, friend, colleague, mother figure and deeply compassionate person.

Carrier served 31 years with the GRPD.

Capt. Carrier's family will greet family and friends at the Beuschel Funeral Home located at 5018 Alpine Avenue NW in Comstock Park from 3 to 7 p.m., on Sunday, April 9. The funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church at 227 Fulton Street in East Grand Rapids on Monday, April 10 at 11:00 a.m. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Capt. Carrier’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association of Grand Rapids, an organization that has helped and supported the family over the years.
