1 person arrested after high-speed chase through 2 counties

SPARTA, MICH. - One person is under arrest after leading police on a high-speed chase through Muskegon and Kent counties, ultimately leading to a pursuit through a cornfield.

Dispatch reports indicate a suspect stole a truck around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, and led officers on the chase down Apple Avenue near Maple Island Road in Muskegon County, reaching speeds at 100 at one point.

Around 7:45 p.m., the suspect vehicle entered Kent County and was traveling south on M-37.

The suspect reportedly ditched the truck and ran into a cornfield around 8 p.m. near Sparta. 

Sparta police tell WZZM 13's David Corbat at the scene one person was taken into custody about a half-hour later. It's believed police are seeking no other suspects.
