Montezuma shipwreck

David Trotter and his Undersea Research Associate team of divers, located the schooner Montezuma on side-scan sonar in June 2016. She sits in a depth of 170-feet about 40 miles east of Ocsoda, Michigan, in Lake Huron. The wreck is intact, especially the cabin. The Montezuma sank in 1871 after colliding with another ship – the Hattie Johnson. Thick haze kept the two ships from seeing each other, causing the collision.
