2 Detroit officers shot overnight on city's west side

2 officers shot in apparent misunderstanding

DETROIT, MICH. - Two Detroit police officers are hurt after a shooting on the city's west side. One of them was critically injured.

According to our ABC station in Detroit, it happened around 11:45 p.m. Sunday, April 16 on Lesure Street between W. 8 Mile Road and Norfolk Street.

The officers were responding to reports of break-ins at the time. Investigators say the 19-year-old who pulled the trigger, shooting through the door at the officers, may not have known who was at the door.

The officer who was critically hurt was shot in the face. The other was shot in the arm and has been released.

The 19-year-old, along with his mother and 14-year-old brother, have been detained.
