Funeral arrangements set for slain Wayne State police officer

Police saluted the life of Wayne State Officer Collin Rose.

Funeral arrangements for slain Wayne State Police Officer Collin Rose have been set, along with numerous other memorials. Rose died at Detroit Receiving Hospital Nov. 23, a day after being shot in the head after approaching a subject on a bicycle in Detroit's Woodbridge neighborhood, about seven blocks southwest of Wayne State.

Details are as follows:

SUNDAY:  A 16-mile memorial bike ride will be held. Participants will meet at 11 a.m. at the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office at 630 N. Cedar St. in Mason. The public is welcome. The ride starts at noon.

TUESDAY: A candlelight vigil starts at 6:15 p.m. at the flag pole at the Undergraduate Library on Wayne State University’s campus. A moment of silence will take place at 6:31 p.m., marking the time Collin Rose was killed.

WEDNESDAY: A public viewing will be held at Ford Field from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

THURSDAY:  The funeral will be held. Family hour is 10 a.m.-11 a.m. Funeral mass is at 11 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc, 22412 Overlake St. in St. Clair Shores. There will then be a law enforcement procession leading to Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township where Rose will be laid to rest. The cemetery is at 18201 Clinton River Rd. Kaul Funeral Home in St. Clair Shores is handling the arrangements.
