Girl, 7, dies after being pulled from water

GALIEN TOWNSHIP, MICH. - A 7-year-old girl has died after being pulled from what investigators describe as a "swimming hole" in Berrien County, near the Indiana state line.

Deputies were called out around 7:16 p.m. on Monday, July 10 to a report of a child drowning on a rural property along Jeffery Road near Spring Creek Road. That's southwest of the village of Galien.

First responders tried to save her life, before taking her to Lakeland Hospital in Niles where she eventually died.

Deputies have identified the girl as Sadie Geigler from Michigan City, Indiana.
