SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MICH. - A 65-year-old woman who went missing Wednesday was found dead Thursday morning in Shelby Township wearing just a bathrobe and slippers.
In a news release from Shelby Township police, the woman’s name wasn’t released, but it said she suffered from dementia.
The woman was found Thursday morning around 7 a.m., along the Macomb Orchard Trail near 24 Mile and Dequindre roads.
The woman’s husband told police that they went to bed together Wednesday night, but when he woke up Thursday morning she was gone.
Bone-chilling temperatures overnight didn’t help the woman’s cause and her home, located at 25 Mile and Shelby roads, was a good distance from where she was found.
It's believed she died of exposure to the cold, but an autopsy will confirm her official cause of death.
