GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - A Traverse City farmer is sharing the bounty of his cherry harvest with hungry families in the Grand Rapids area.

Don Gregory from Cherry Bay Orchards is donating 50,000 pounds of frozen Montmorency tart cherries to Feeding America West Michigan. The grower had a bumper crop of cherries this year, far exceeding demand.

Rather than letting the cherries fall to the ground, the farm is giving the fruit to help local families.

Feeding America West Michigan will be receiving shipments of cherries throughout the week, then sharing them with local food pantries.
