WHITE CLOUD, Mich. (WZZM) -- The body a 4-month-old girl who was reported missing for several days has been found.
The child's grandmother Heidi Thill tells WZZM 13 that authorities found the body of Natallya Rich in the basement of her home in White Cloud late Tuesday night.
Thrill said the child's mother Brittany Rich, 25, and her boyfriend, Matthew Bradley, 27, were located in Big Rapids. Bradley was taken into custody and during questioning, family members say he told investigators he hid Natallya's body in the basement.
"How could someone do this to a 4-month-old? How could they?" Thill said in disbelief. When asked about Bradley, she responded, "I want him to fry... it's too bad we don't have the death penalty."
Thill said she had been in the basement Monday and her husband was down there Tuesday. She says they did not notice or smell anything unusual.
Newaygo County Prosecutor Robert Springstead says it's "too early to tell" whether foul play was involved in Natallya's death or if any charges will be issued. Authorities say they're awaiting autopsy results to determine when and how the baby died.
Natallya lived at the home on Swain Street with her mother, Bradley, and grandparents.
Thill contacted police early Tuesday after Natallya wasn't returned home. She reportedly had been left in the care of a babysitter on Saturday.
Bradley initially told investigators he dropped off Natallyal at a babysitter Saturday while Brittany Rich was sick and trying to recover. Tuesday, police said they were trying to locate the sitter named Nicole.
Police say Bradley has a history of drug problems with a warrant out for his arrest on unrelated charges. He was released from prison in April, 2013, after serving two years on a home invasion conviction in Newaygo County. Bradley has a felony case pending in Newaygo County Circuit Court for carrying a concealed weapon.
Thill told WZZM 13 Brittany Rich has also had drug problems.
