1 person shot and killed in Muskegon

MUSKEGON, MICH. - Police are looking for the person suspected of shooting and killing someone Tuesday, July 4.

Emergency crews were called out to Sanford Street just north of Muskegon High School's Hackley Stadium just before 1 a.m. When our crews arrived on the scene, there was a very large police presence in the area.

According to the Muskegon Police Department, first-responders found a 44-year-old man unconscious with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim died from his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim's father identified him as Corey Thompson, a father of 7. His father says Thompson was a working man, who did not bother anyone.
