14-year-old arrested for attempted armed robbery

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM) - A 14-year-old from Muskegon Heights is in custody for an attempted armed robbery.

Muskegon Police were called Wednesday night to Nelson School in the 500 block of W. Grand Ave. An 18-year-old woman told police the teen had approached her outside the school and demanded property. He told her he was armed and then pointed a handgun at her. She fled the scene and did not have anything taken from her.

The teen was found about two blocks away near Southern Ave. and Park Street. He was taken into custody without incident. The gun was found at the scene of the robbery attempt. The gun was later determined to have been reported stolen.

Police say the teen, with his guardian present, admitted to his role in the incident. He is in custody
