Muskegon removing seldom used parking lot

Grass seed will be planted in the next week or two.

MUSKEGON, MICH. - The city of Muskegon is creating more green space downtown.

This week, heavy equipment began peeling up asphalt at the city-owned parking in the near West Western Avenue and Franklin Street. The four-acre site is near the city's Hartshorn Marina.

The city is marketing the property as a potential development site. In an effort to make the location more attractive to developers and for residents, the city is removing all the asphalt at the site.

Grass seed will be planted in the next week or two.
