MUSKEGON, MICH. - Family and friends of a woman allegedly killed by her ex-boyfriend gathered outside the Muskegon County courthouse this morning, seeking justice.
Joshua Salyers, 29, is accused of killing 22-year-old Barbara Dailey. Salyers was arraigned in court Tuesday, Sept. 6, and was charged with open murder. He is being held without bond.
Police were called Sunday night by someone saying Dailey had been attacked. When they arrived, officers say Dailey had cuts on her throat and injuries to her head. She later died at the hospital.
Tuesday morning, relatives and friends of Barbara, or "Barbie," gathered holding signs and calling for justice. They say she recently kicked her ex-boyfriend Salyers out of her house. They say he kept trying to get back together with Barbie and constantly messaged her on social media.
They say her three children have not yet learned their mother is gone.
A candlelight vigil for Dailey will be held Thursday, Sept. 8, at Heritage Landing. It will begin at 8:30 p.m.
The group says anyone who want to stand up to domestic abuse is asked to attend and show their support.
