Fire in Muskegon leaves nine without a home

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM) - The Red Cross is assisting nine people left homeless after a fire damaged their home in Muskegon. The house on Mclaughlin Ave. has at least two apartments.

Investigators say the fire started in an upstairs apartment, the lady living there says she heard a pop and woke up to find her bed on fire. She was able to get out, and warned the other residents to get out of the house because of the fire.

All nine people including five children were able to get out of the home uninjured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
