MUSKEGON, MICH. - Sand dunes are another natural feature Michigan is know for. In May, experts on protecting dunes will gather for a new event in Muskegon.
It's the first ever Freshwater Dunes Summit and it will take place at various location around Muskegon County.
The event is being organized by the West Michigan Environmental Action Council and other state conservation groups.
It will attract researchers and environmentalist from around the Great Lakes but it's not just for professionals.
Organizers know conferences are better with activities for participants -- so, the freshwater dune summit will include craft beer, kayaking, lectures and hikes along Lake Michigan at dune locations the Muskegon area is know for.
