MAISD makes pitch to take over business of Musk. Hts. schools

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM) - The Muskegon Area Intermediate School District is making a pitch to take over the business operation of Muskegon Heights School District.

In a post on the MAISD website, superintendent David Spika says that MAISD staff has worked with Muskegon Heights Schools during their two years operating with charter school management company Mosaica, Inc. MAISD has taken the operations of early childhood programs and provided consulting assistance.

In the statement, Sipka says the MAISD can provide a secure business office, so the charter school board can focus on academic services.

Sipka is retiring June 30. Dr. John Severson will be the new superintendent.
