Man, 86, killed in Muskegon County crash

DALTON TOWNSHIP, MICH. - An 86-year-old man was killed Tuesday, Sept. 20, while pulling out of his driveway in Dalton Township.

The accident occurred at 4072 Whitehall Road, just after 10:30 a.m.

According to the Muskegon County Sheriff's Office, Bazil Leroy Elliott drove into the path of a northbound pickup truck. He was hit on the driver's side of his Buick sedan.

Elliott was critically injured, and died shortly after arriving at Hackley Hospital.

The driver of the truck, David Rikkers, 77 of Montague, was not injured.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. Speed, alcohol, drugs or texting are not considered factors at this time.

The accident remains under investigation.
