Missing man's body recovered from Muskegon Lake

MUSKEGON, MICH. - The body of a 33-year-old man missing since December was pulled from the Muskegon Lake.

The Muskegon Fire Department Search and Recovery team recovered the body just after noon, Thursday, April 13. 

The body was found when members of the Coast Guard were conducting training on the lake.

The victim has been identified as Daniel Vanalstine. Muskegon police say Vanalstine had been missing since December -- he was the focus of a missing person's investigation.

Police said that the family was able to identify the man, but the cause of death is not known and will be determined after a coroner’s review.
