Muskegon County man hit by car in Big Rapids

BIG RAPIDS, MICH. - A 22-year-old Twin Lake man is recovering after being hit by a car near Ferris State University's campus.

It happened around 12:38 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016 at the corner of South State Street and Fuller Avenue.

Investigators say the man was intoxicated when he tried to cross the street in front of the driver, leading to the crash.

The man was taken to Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital. There is no word at this point on his condition.

Along with the Big Rapids Department of Public Safety, Mecosta County EMS and Big Rapids firefighter were called to the scene.
