MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, MICH. - Muskegon Heights will soon have a City manager for the first time since early 2015. Thursday afternoon they announced the selection of Jake Eckholm to the position. Eckholm is a Muskegon native and is excited for the opportunity. "I was born and raised in Muskegon, and my wife and I still live here because we want to make an impact in our home community," Eckhom said. "There are so many positive things going on in the city right now, and so much potential for more. We have a lot of good work to do, and I am looking forward to meeting the team and getting started!"
He is currently the City Manager for the Montcalm County communities of Stanton and Lakeview. He is one of only a few City Managers to manage two communities simultaneously. He was a Regional Client Services Manager for TrueNorth Community Services before taking his current position.
He was selected from a nationwide search that produced 24 applicants. The four semifinalist interviewed with the City Council on August 20th. Mayor Kimberley Sims looks forward to working with Eckholm, "We are ecstatic and pleased to have found such a highly qualified candidate in Jake Eckholm to become Muskegon Height's next City Manager. It was important to the City Council to find a person who would be an excellent fit for our community and we believe that Jake is the perfect City Manager to lead the organization as we move forward."
