Teen leads MSP on chase, crashes into trooper's car

Muskegon Township, Mich. (WZZM) -- A Muskegon area teen is in the Muskegon County Youth Home after leading Michigan State Police on a chase in a stolen vehicle.

MSP spotted the car Friday night after it was reported stolen. When they attempted to pull over the car, the 15-year-old driver sped away. He led police on a short, high-speed chase, eventually crashing the vehicle on the intersection of Mill Iron road and Apple Avenue.

When the officer approached the crashed car, the teen backed into the trooper's vehicle, causing some damage. Police say he then fled the scene, but did pull over for another officer a short distance away.

The teen was arrested at the scene and was transported to the youth home. He is expected to be charged with vehicle theft, failing to stop for police, and driving without a license.
