National Protect Your Package Day

Protect your packages during the holidays

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH - The Wednesday after Thanksgiving is now known as National Protect Your Package Day.

It encourages homeowners to stay alert and protect their homes against package theft, which becomes more and more prevalent during the holidays.

There are ways to better protect your deliveries. Home security systems are a good place to start. There are camera's ranging from night vision, to motion detectors, to HD. Smart mailboxes are also becoming an option. One smart mailbox hoping to hit the market soon is uCella. This device can track, delivery, schedule pick-up and drop off times, it even has cameras, scanning capabilities and a voice message system.

A lot of delivery services allow you to track your package almost to the second. However, sometimes we can't be home as soon as it arrives. UPS now offers "My Choice", a service that allows users to manage deliveries and receive packages, which include rerouting, rescheduling and more.
