WHITE CLOUD, MICH. - Newaygo County leaders say a candidate who is dropping out of a township race as part of a plea agreement will stay on the ballot.
Roshelle Wright, the Everett Township Clerk, was on trial this week on charges she violated Michigan election law.
Wright has residences in both Everett Township in Newaygo County and Allendale in Ottawa County. Prosecutors say her legal residence is in Allendale.
Wright agreed to plead no contest to the election violations on Wednesday. As part of the agreement, Wright must withdraw from the race for township clerk.
The Newaygo County Clerk says Wright will still be on the ballot, and they'll count any votes for her. If she wins, it will be up to Wright, the court and Everett Township leaders to resolve the issue.
