GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - The holidays can be a very happy time of year, but for those who have lost a loved one, it can be very difficult -- especially for children.
Ele's Place is a local non-profit that helps children and teens dealing with grief and they are in need of volunteers for the new year.
Ele's Place provides weekly sessions that allow children to share their feelings with peers who have experienced the death of a family member or close friend.
Music, art, storytelling, writing and play are creative tools used to help children express their fears, anger, guilt and sadness.
Trained volunteers facilitate age-appropriate group discussions and activities. Volunteers are critical to programming at Ele's Place.
Volunteers can come from all walks of life, and there is no previous training or education required to become a volunteer.
