Meghan Bunchman joins the kids from St. John Vianney in Wyoming where kids are working to make a difference for others in Kent County.

WYOMING, MICH. - Schools across West Michigan have started to collect gifts for families in need this holiday season. More than 40 schools have already signed up for WZZM 13's School Spirit Challenge!

WZZM 13's Meghan Bunchman kicked off the holiday season with the student council of St. John Vianney Catholic School in Wyoming.

Each week, schools will register their totals with the station. Gifts collected will later be donated to families in the school's respective county via Toys for Tots.

WZZM 13 has participated in the School Spirit Challenge for about 15 years and has donated more than 150,000 presents.

There is still time to register your school! Contact Catherine Behrendt at 616-559-1481 to sign up.

Schools registered by Thanksgiving will be entered into a drawing for a $1,000 prize.
