Overnight fire destroys Byron Center mobile home

Fire destroys mobile home in Byron Center

BYRON CENTER, MICH. - The American Red Cross will be stepping in to help two people who are now without a home after it burned down early Monday, June 12.

It happened at 2:47 a.m. on Belvedere Street, in a mobile home park not far from the heavily-traveled intersection of Byron Center Avenue and 84th Street.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, there were heavy flames coming from the ceiling and from underneath the trailer.

The woman living in the home told WZZM 13 she was awake and saw flames. She then yelled for her boyfriend to wake him up and they immediately ran out of the house. They were not injured.

The couple living in the trailer called in the fire, and investigators say neighbors on the way home from work also saw the flames and called 911.

The American Red Cross will come out to help later on Monday, because they were also responding to a few other fires in the area.

It's not clear what started the fire.

Kent County dispatchers say the fire did not cause any closures or delays on busy 84th Street.
