GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, MICH. - Firefighters are trying to figure out what caused a popular Grand Rapids area grocery store to catch fire early in the morning on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016.
It happened around 4 a.m. at Ken's Fruit Market near the corner of Plainfield Avenue and 4 Mile Road.
Investigators say when they arrived on the scene some hay bales outside the store were on fire. The flames had spread to the awning above.
They do not believe the inside of the building was damaged, but they're checking to see about possible smoke damage at Ken's Fruit Market, and connected buildings.
Firefighters from Grand Rapids, Ada and Plainfield townships all assisted in putting out the flames.
