ReThink West Michigan expands effort to bring talent back to Michigan

ReThink West Michigan expands

MUSKEGON, MICH. - An annual pre-Thanksgiving event in Grand Rapids is expanding this year in an effort to bring professionals back to West Michigan.

ReThink West Michigan will take place not only in Grand Rapids but also in Hastings, Muskegon, Ludington, and Holland the day before Thanksgiving.

The day was selected because many professionals who left Michigan will be back home for the holiday with family.

"Every job matters, every job counts," said Darryl Todd, Interim President and CEO of Muskegon Area First. Todd wants some of those one-time Michigan residents to find new jobs while they're back in the Wolverine State.

According to Todd there's opportunity for good jobs all around West Michigan. "Skill trades is high-demand, engineering is high demand," he said.

To help make connections between employers and job seekers Todd and others are hosting the ReThink West Michigan event in Muskegon. It will be held at The Block in downtown Wednesday, November 22, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.

In Muskegon, ten employers will be looking to make connections with new employees.

"We want to try and let them know what is available here in the area as far as jobs are concerned, and why this is the place to live work and play," said Todd.

Other ReThink West Michigan sites:

  • Eve at the B.O.B in Grand Rapids
