Ribbon cutting at Berlin Raceway & Entertainment Complex

MARNE, Mich. (WZZM) -- It's the day many West Michigan race fans have been waiting for.

After nearly a month of delays, leaders of the Berlin Raceway and Entertainment Complex cut the ribbon Wednesday on renovations to the facility.

They were joined by business leaders from Grand Rapids, Coopersville, and Holland.

The Berlin Raceway and Entertainment Complex now includes upgraded suites, grandstands and a pavilion.

The facility's vice president, Chris Danielson, says the hope is eventually to use the venue 150 days out of the year.

"The enhancements we made here at the racetrack are really for everyone: race fans and non-race fans alike. The entertainment complex is going to be hosting concerts and a big rib festival coming up in September, along with a host of other things."

The Berlin Raceway in Marne began welcoming race fans 64 years ago.
