ROCKFORD, MICH. - It's going to be a special year for the Rockford Marching Band! They will be marching in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York and they need the community's help to make it happen.
Rockford was picked from 175 applicants, as one of 10 bands to march in the parade.
"Rockford High School Marching Band mixes a mature symphonic sound with exceptional marching and maneuvering every time they take the field for a performance,” said Wesley Whatley, creative director of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, in a press release.
So far, the Rockford Marching Band's has raised $50,000 for their March to Macy's. $30,000 of this has been raised through ShopWithScrip, a fundraising effort that helps organizations raise money through gift cards.
