ROCKFORD, MICH. - Summer doesn't officially begin for another couple of weeks. However, the City of Rockford is starting the celebration early.
The 49th annual "Start of Summer Celebration" begins Thursday. June 8 and runs through June 11 in downtown Rockford.
Each year it draws well over 10,000 visitors and features carnival rides, food, games, contests, crafts, demonstrations, music, beer tent, fireworks on Saturday night and much more.
Hosted the second full weekend in June each year, organizers say the Rockford Start of Summer Celebration is truly a Rockford institution and fun for the entire family.
