Calvin College President on hand at opening bell of NYSE

NEW YORK (WZZM) - Calvin College President Gaylen Byker was on the podium for the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange this morning.

As a director on the board of InterOil Corporation, Byker was on hand when CEO Phil E. Mulacek rang the opening bell.

According to the NYSE, InterOil is the first Asia Pacific company to move its listing from NYSE Amex to the NYSE since they acquired the AMEX exchange.

According to InterOil's website, the company is a Canadian energy company which is focused in Papua, New Guinea. The company's assets include petroleum licensing to 4.6 million acres in New Guinea, an oil refinery, and retail and commercial distribution facilities. The company is also a shareholder in a joint venture to build a Liquified Natural Gas plant in New Guinea.
