ALGOMA TWP., Mich. (WZZM) - Little League players in the "over 13" bracket will finally be able to play home games next season.

The Algoma Little League and Algoma Township officials broke ground Tuesday night on a $70,000 full-sized baseball field. The Little League raised half of the money for the field, with the township matching the funds raised.

According to the league, the number of participants in Little League baseball in Algoma has doubled since 2006. The "over 13" age bracket has not had a home field to play on.

The field will be named after Clifford Barr, a lifelong Algoma resident and former employee of Wynalda Litho, Inc. who recently passed away. Wynalda donated $10,000 for the naming rights to the field.
