Movies Filming in West Michigan This Summer

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WZZM)- Robert Duvall's Tribes of October is set in a post-apocolyptic New York, but it's being filmed in present day Grand Rapids.

The movie is one of many shooting in the area this summer thanks to the efforts of the West Michigan Film Office as well as Michigan's Film Incentive.

Kristy Swanson and Kevin Sorbo are ecurrently shooting their new movie, What If, in Manistee. They'll be shooting in Grand Rapids this coming weekend. Filming started on June 28 and is set to wrap on July 15. The film is scheduled for a global DVD release on Valentine's Day 2010.

There are six movies currently slated for local production this summer, and that number is expected to grow.

A producer from A Year in Mooring will be in the are next week for a location scout.
