BOWNE CENTER, Mich. (WZZM) - A driver is dead following a crash early Friday morning. It happened around 2:30 a.m. on 92nd Street SE near Alden Nash Avenue, that's south of Alto.

Kent County deputies say a 26-year-old Adam Christopher Lucas of Clarksville was driving a Nissan 350-Z at a high rate of speed when he ran off the road and crashed into several trees. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The impact was so intense a neighbor called 911 after hearing was she thought was a large load falling from a semi-truck. Emergency crews say the back end of the vehicle was the only part in tact.

No one else was injured.
